Rough measurements revealed the engine compartment of this 2004 Silverado was just too cramped to cleanly fit the BMK- 13 filter mount with EaO-15 and EaBP-90 Filters. I located a suitable vertical underbody “lip”, inside the frame on the driver’s side, back by the ABS EBCM/Hydraulic manifold (see photos). Before ordering the kit I pre-measured, and figured about a five-foot hose run from the spin-on filter adaptor to the chosen filter mount location and ordered extra hose. I used a BK-11 90-degree fitting kit for the hose to spin-on filter adaptor connection (see photos). I ended up using about 4′ 8″ of hose for each line, so eight feet might do the job with a little tighter routing. The location of the BMK-13 filter mount required the use of sheet metal screws to secure it to the underbody sheet metal, so I used a piece of 1/8″ thick aluminum bar stock as a backing plate. This beefed up the mount point by isolating the bracket from the underbody and providing more bite for the screws. Materials used for the install: · BMK-13 By-Pass Filter Kit · 1 – BK-11 90 degree fitting kit · 5 Feet of extra BP-188 hose · EaO-15 Full Flow Filter · EaBP-90 By-Pass Filter · Piece of 1/8″ aluminum bar stock, cut to fit · 6 – #12 x 1/2″ stainless steel sheet metal screws, for backing plate · 4 – #14 x 1″ stainless steel sheet metal screws, for mount bracket · Red and Blue Thread Locker · Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 Motor Oil to fill filters and top off The quality of the kit was top-notch, the instructions were excellent and I’m really pleased with the finished installation. Anyone with even modest mechanic skills should be able to install the BMK-13

Chief’s obligation under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of products which are defective and which have not been misused, carelessly handled, or defaced by repair or repairs made or attempted by others
Specially designed Chevrolet Corvette adapters (see Figure 1) can be used with the Universal Measuring System’s (UMS) pinchweld stands/adapter tubes or with Universal Anchoring System (UAS) bases. The adapters allow the positive anchoring of Chevrolet Corvettes (1997 – ). The Corvette anchoring components allow attachment of hold down brackets to oval holes on underside of vehicles rocker panels. The hold down brackets then mount to either UMS basic stands/adapter tubes or to clamp bar tubes inserted in UAS bases. Instructions 1. Remove plugs from oval holes in bottom of rocker panels. 2. Lift one side of vehicle and position anchoring stands (see options – Figure 1) at front and rear corners of center section. a. If using UMS pinchweld stands, first lift one side of vehicle and position mounting brackets on mainframe below front and rear corners of vehicle’s center section. Then slide stands into the brackets but do not secure them in the brackets nor secure the brackets to the mainframe. b. If using UAS bases, insert UMS adapter tubes, clamp bar tubes, or optional cradle mount tubes and position bases at front and rear corners of center section. 3. Insert head of threaded hold down attachment into oval hole at front corner of center section (see Figure 2) and turn attachment 90 degrees so that head straddles inside of oval hole. 4. Slide oval spacer and oval insert onto threaded end of hold down attachment. (See Figure 3.) Oval insert must fit within oval hole on underside of rocker panel. (See Figure 3 inset.) TP Tools and Equipment  1-800-321-9260  Local 330-533-3384  www.tptools.com Restoration Series 3 1966 Corvette Restoration – Part 1 Chassis Reassembly – Dar- ney sent all major drive-train and suspension parts to Bair’s Inc in Linesville, PA for reconditioning. Bair’s Inc specializes in rebuilding and reconditioning Corvette trailing arms, rear ends, half shafts, a-arms, steering boxes, and other components, plus stocks just about everything else you will need for your restoration. Once all components were back, Darney visited the TP Tools showroom for some hard-to-fi nd restoration paints. Darney chose Stainless Steel paint for the rear end and half shafts: Alumi Blast for the transmission, and Cast Blast for the steering box and master cylinder. Darney stated, “These restoration paints really set off a restoration — they add the detail that judges look for. Plus, they’re in aerosol form so they’re ready to use; and, most importantly, they protect the parts.” The fi nished chassis was a work of art, almost a shame it would be covered up later by the body. Primer Applications – It was time to roll the Vette body into one of TP Tools’ paint booths. Darney turned to the TP Gravity-Fed Turbine Paint Spray System once again. He installed a 1.4 mm nozzle setup and applied two heavy coats of an epoxy-type primer. This primer will provide excellent adhesion for the high-build primer and seal the fi berglass. Darney said, “With primers and paints costing so much these days, you need a paint system that will save on materials and reduce overspray … that’s what TP Tools’ Turbine Sprayer does — it saves material and it pays for itself in one or two restorations. Now that’s a tool every shop should have!” High-Build Primer – After spraying the epoxy primer, Darney applied a high-build primer to the body and all parts of the Vette.
